Method statement is needed to establish the various hold point (check point) and operation procedures to do the work of any activity in the field. The executing agency will collect all relevant data / information for carrying out the activity and will then prepare and submit work methodology.
The contractor would submit detailed method statement of each activity giving the quantum of activity, resources which he wants to deploy, time to be taken by the activity and the methods which he proposes to follow. It would be reviewed by the project manager and commented, if necessary. The contractor and project manager would designate key personnel responsible for each activity, who will coordinate while performing the activity.
Calibrated measuring devices will be used for checking and testing. Test results and measurements will be recorded in quality formats and product will be preserved till hand over. Areas of post hand over checks will be identified.
The activities of each type of work shall be grouped under three heads.
This shall vary with the types of work and will cover quality checks during construction phase at required frequencies. Test to be done at site lab and outside labs will be identified. Proper documentation to show that tests required have been carried out and satisfy the laid down criteria, will be maintained.
The activities (curing, de shuttering etc. finishing if required) will be checked on completion of construction activities. Testing and commissioning of installations will also be checked at this stage.
